When I decided to create a blog my idea was to write about art and architecture. But on reflection and considering the vast amount information on those subjects circulating on the net I thought it would be too ambitious and perhaps even presumptous to pretend to make a valuable contribution.
I therefore decided to limit the scope of my blog to deal only with certain images and the effect they may have on those who look at them. I decided to turn my blog into an experiment based on my own personal experience.
Let me explain: I was 20 years old and lived in Paris and I was desperately persuing an identity that constantly seemed to elude me. Then one day I saw on the wall at a friend’s house three little pictures. These pictures had such an impact on me that they changed my life.( For a brief account of this see my book”TIME TO REMEMBER”).
The pictures were collages in the spirit of Max Ernst. A new enchanted world opened up in front of me and this became the world I wanted to explore. I became an artist.
At the time I created a few collages but then I dedicated the next thirty years to painting. But after my last exhibition in Paris I was so disgusted with the corrupt art world that I decided to stop painting and dedicate myself to ceramics and writing.
But those collages have always travelled with me and in recent years I have gone back to them and they have given me great pleasure. It has felt like a homecoming.
This blog is an experiment and the basic idea is to post an image a week and hoping that the people who visit my blog will respond and let their imagination meander freely along the paths that my images may suggest to it. I, of course, don’t pretend to change anyone’s life and I wont comment the images myself bcause I do not want to condition or guide the onlooker`s imagination.
As I said creating these images has given me great pleasure, a pleasure that would be greatly enhanced by sharing them with a wide public.
